CHENNAI: Bollywood actor, Pankaj Tripathi has landed the role of a policeman in Pa Ranjith’s Kaala, which features Rajinikanth as a slum lord-turned-gangster. Pankaj reportedly plays a policeman with shades of grey.

The actor was apparently so excited for the chance to work with his idol Rajinikanth, that he was ready to act without even wanting to listen to the story. Though he admits to having seen only parts of one Rajini film, Robot, Pankaj says he is a big fan of the superstar’s personality, especially because despite his superstardom, it is his humbleness that has come to define Rajinikanth.

Pa Ranjith offered Pankaj the role in Kaala after watching, and being impressed by, Pankaj’s performances in Gangs of Wasseypur and Nil Battey Sannata. Kaala’s cast also includes other Bollywood stars like Nana Patekar and Huma Qureshi in important roles.

The film has been in the news constantly since the first look was released on May 25, and the recent buzz is that Malayalam megastar Mammooty will be reprising his national award winning role of BR Ambedkar for the movie. The makers have chosen not to comment on this rumor.
