Swathi Kolai Vazhakku trailer: Sensational murder case makes way into the big screen

The trailer of Swathi Kolai Vazhakku, a movie based on the sensational murder case of 24-year-old IT employee Swathi at Nungambakkam railway station on June 24 2016, was released yesterday.

The movie trailer gives an in-depth perspective of the events that unfolded from the cops’ point of view. The film will witness Ajmal donning the role of an investigative cop and will be seen sharing screen space with a bunch of newcomers.

According to Tamil Nadu police, an unidentified person hacked Swathi to death on the morning of June 24 at Nungambakkam railway station as she was waiting to board a train to her office.

After a week of investigation, police apprehended engineering graduate Ramkumar in his native Tirunelveli district in south Tamil Nadu a week later on July 2. He allegedly attempted to commit suicide when police went to arrest him.

A few months later on September 18, the cops announced that Ramkumar had committed suicide at Puzhal Central prison in Chennai by inflicting an electric shock on himself from an open switchboard’s wires.

The Swathi murder case and the entire series of events that followed sent shock-waves across the country. The trailer of the movie looks gutsy and promising. It will be interesting to see if the film tries to unravel some of the mysteries surrounding the case.
