Tubelight inspired by real-life incidents

Progressing from being an ad filmmaker and corporate theatre trainer to now, an actor-filmmaker, Indra says it’s his work that impressed producer Ravi Narayanan to bankroll his upcoming film Tubelight, which set for release this Friday.

Talking about the film, Indra says, “It’s about a guy who suffers from a disorder that prevents him from hearing anything immediately. The character, Ram, can only hear after a five-second delay. How he succeeds in love and life, despite this disorder affecting him psychologically and physiologically, forms the rest of the story.”

Stating that the film’s idea came from real life incidents, the director, who also plays the lead, says, “Since I’m also into music, I meet a lot of sound engineers. Some of them would be so absorbed in their work that if we call out to them, it takes a few seconds for them to react. I saw this issue to be quite common among them. In fact, I’m sure we’ve all experienced this at some point in our life. Everybody will be able to empathise with Ram when they see Tubelight.”

The film also stars newbie Dhiya as the female lead, Praveen Prem of Dummy Tappasu fame, in addition to featuring veteran actor-director R Pandiarajan in a pivotal role. “He plays the role of a crazy doctor and sequences involving him will be a treat for the audience,” says Indra.
