CHENNAI: Actor Rajinikanth talked more politics on Friday, indicating further that he might be interested in taking the plunge.
Describing himself as ‘pachai thamizhan’ (true Tamizh), the actor lamented that the ‘system’ had become polluted despite existence of many good leaders. He also asked his fans to be prepared for a ‘war’. However, he made no concrete statements about his political intentions.
Addressing supporters on the final day of his ‘meet the fans’ programme, the superstar responded to the most important criticism that sprung up on social media after his speech on Monday — ‘Rajinikanth is not a Tamizh’.
“The primary question posed against me is this: Is Rajinikanth a Tamil? I am 67-years old now. I was in Karnataka only for 23 years. For the past 44 years I have been living in Tamil Nadu, among you. Though I came here as a Marathi or Kannadiga, you have showered love, affection, name and fame… and indeed, you have made me a Tamil. I have become a pachai tamizhan. I have already told you, my ancestors were natives of Natchikuppam in Krishnagiri.”
“If you drive me away from Tamil Nadu, I will descend on Himalayas and in no other State. Why because, I wish to live here where the good Tamil people live or else wish to live in Himalayas where Siddhars are living,” Rajinikanth further said.
The actor further asked “Is it wrong on my part to think about the well being of the people of this State? Then there is another view that why should I enter the scene when there are so many others to accomplish that task.”
