Dulquer Salmaan as Gemini Ganesan in Mahanati

Dulquer Salmaan will play the late Tamil actor Gemini Ganesan in the upcoming Tamil-Telugu bilingual Mahanati, a biopic on legendary actress Savitri. This will also mark his debut in Telugu cinema. His part in the film will be significant, as Gemini Ganesan was married to Savitri. According to sources, major research work is currently underway for the project, the shooting of which will begin from June.

Directed by Nag Ashwin, the film will have Keerthy Suresh playing Savitri. The story will be told from the perspective of Samantha’s character, a journalist. We hear that the makers plan to erect massive sets on a scale that hasn’t been seen before in Indian cinema. The period drama set in 80s will be jointly produced by Vyjayanthi Movies and Swapna Cinemas. It is speculated that Anushka Shetty and Prakash Raj have been approached to play important roles in the film. Mickey J Meyer will be working on the background score and music.
