Love in the times of summer

Debutant director Markx is a picture of confidence on the eve of the release of his film, Nagarvalam. The director, who changed his name from Suresh to Markx, says that the story is about the travails of the poor, “who depend on lorry tankers for drinking water. It’s a love story set among people, who can’t afford to have two meals a day.

A lot of it is about how water is an important source for them to make a living with.” The director says that the film in many ways is about the lives of “little people”. “There’s also a gana song by Deva that will bring to light the little joys of those living in a Housing Board. I’ve also managed to bring together comedians Bala Saravanan and Yogi Babu.” Markx says he’s grateful for the support of first-time producer M Natarajan and Shakthi Film Factory, that has previously released Dhuruvangal 16, Kadugu and 8 Thottakkal.
