Now, an all-male film!

While we know that a female-centric film like Magalir Mattum is being made, how many of us know that its opposite, a movie with an all-male cast, is being made? The movie in question, Aadavar, is being made by debutant director Sriranjan. “We don’t have a single woman who’s part of our team,” he says. “It’s just an idea we got. We haven’t made the film to get into the Guinness Book.”

Sriranjan has previously been part of at least 50 films as a cinematographer. “My experience was the reason the producer placed his faith in me,” he says.

Aadavar isn’t just about the all-male-crew gimmick, he says. “The film is also about the flood that tormented Tamil Nadu a couple of years ago. We try to provide some solutions. There’s also a bit of horror in it.”Sriranjan is also excited about having roped in the award-winning Malayalam composer, V Thashi, for his film. “His music is the life and soul of the film. No song will be out of place.” Sriranjan realises that women may not really take to an all-male film. “But I believe that a good film will work for everybody.”
