Busy days for Dhanshika

After playing a gangster in Kabali, Dhanshika will be playing the role of a call girl in an upcoming short film titled Sinam.

After playing a gangster in Kabali, Dhanshika will be playing the role of a call girl in an upcoming short film titled Sinam. The director, Anand Murthy, is thoroughly impressed with her commitment. “At a time when most male stars are fearful of being shown smoking, she did it to stay true to her character.”   The actress reportedly prepared for weeks to fit into the role.

“It will be among the boldest roles we have seen women essay. The attitude with which Dhanshika played it stands testament to her passion for cinema,” Anand adds. Set in Kolkata, the film also stars model Bidita Bag. “Bidita plays a documentary filmmaker. The story is about these two characters and what happens when they cross paths. It’s a powerful woman-centric story,” he says.

The film will have music by G V Prakash and is produced by Nesan Creations, a UK-based company.
Meanwhile, Dhanshika is simultaneously shooting for a psychological thriller, Uru, opposite Kalaiyarasan. Directed by Vicky Anand, the film is about a novelist and his wife. The debutant director says, “The story is about a Tamil writer who’s considered outdated. He takes a sabbatical and leaves for Meghamalai to write a novel. What happens to him there is the rest of the story.”

Except the songs, the film’s shooting is complete. John Christopher Bell, who made music for Metro, is working on this film. “We have tried to maintain a balance between ethnic and western country music for this film. We have also got Dhanshika singing a song for us,” smiles John.
