Baahubali 2: Will the Film's Release Get Stalled in Karnataka?

A still from the film.

With just little less than a month left for SS Rajamouli’s magnum opus Baahubali: The Conlcusion to release, the nation is literally counting days to 28th April. But fans in Karnataka are having to deal with a different issue prior to the film’s release. Some fringe activist group have approached Karnataka Film Chamber Of Commerce President SA Ra Govindu to stop the release of Baahubali 2 in Karnataka. Reason for the ban? Actor Sathyaraj who plays Kattappa in the film had reportedly made anti-Karnataka remarks in the past.

The actor had spoken in favour of Tamil Nadu during the Cauvery water dispute that had Karnataka and TN in loggerheads with each other. Interestingly, the comment was made a few years back and later the release of Baahubali: The Beginning was not stopped in Karnataka. But the comment has now irked certain groups in the state and in protest they have demand a ban on the release of the film.

SS Rajamouli’s Baahubali: The Conclusion is the most anticipated films of the year. A second part of the immensely successful Baahubali: The Beginning, the film is going to answer the all the important question- Why did Kattappa kill Baahubali?
