The much-awaited 2.0 starring Superstar Rajinikanth is all set to hit the silver screens come Diwali this year. While shooting for the film is still on, the film has been mired in controversy. On Wednesday, two photo journalists from The Hindu were attacked by the movie crew around 9:15 AM. One of the photo journalist said he tried to take pictures of the commotion and in turn was assaulted by three members of the crew. Other journalists went to the Ice House police station to file an FIR and the Assistant Director of 2.0 Pappu was detained.

Raghunath, who was attacked by the 2.0 crew said: I started from my house for the RK Nagar assignment and the narrow road was blocked because of the shoot. A pregnant woman was stuck in the same street as the road was blocked because of the shoot. When I questioned the crew if they have the permission to shoot during the day, I was attacked by the crew. My colleague too was assaulted.”

In fact no permission was given to the crew to shoot during the day. The permission letter CNN News 18 accessed clearly states that the crew can shoot in Triplicane between 11pm and 6 am but in reality, they continued shooting during the day effected public life immensely.

Later, director Shankar addressed the media issuing an apology to the two journalists who were attacked. “I was not aware of the incident. I have shot many films and I have always ensured public life is not affected. I feel sorry. My apologies to the two journalists.”

The two journalists who were attacked, later, withdrew their complaint.

Shankar’s 2.0 is touted as India’s most expensive film and is also the sequel to Enthiran which was a blockbuster. It stars Rajinikanth, Akshay Kumar and Amy Jackson in prominent roles.
