Looks like 2016 is not a year for love…at least for celebrities! After Amala Paul and AL Vijay’s split, on Friday news spread that Rajinikanth’s second daughter Soundarya and her industrialist-husband Ashwin Ramkumar have filed a petition for divorce in the family court. Soundarya Rajnikanth confirmed the news later in the day with a tweet.

Apparently, Superstar Rajnikanth had stayed with the couple after returning from the US in a bid to get the couple to reconsider and reconcile their differences. But it didn’t work.
Reports suggest that both of them applied for divorce by mutual consent following ‘irreconcilable’ differences. The couple had been together for about four years before their marriage in 2010. They have a son, Ved, who turned one a few months ago.
Earlier, there were rumours that things weren’t well between Ashwin and Soundarya, after it was noticed that he was hardly seen with her at events. Also, she was promoting her dad’s film Kabali with Aishwarya (sister) and her husband/brother-in-law Dhanush, sans Ashwin. What’s more, Soundarya, who had been quite active on Twitter, share family moments with Ashwin earlier, had of late not been mentioning her husband.
