Comparisons have been made of the scale and vibe of the film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s brand of cinema.

But in one Twitter review, a user wrote: “When Karan Johar wants to become Sanjay Leela Bhansali, outcome is disaster.”

Saw the FDFS of #Kalank just for #Sridevi as the queen was supposed to do this film. Was utterly disappointed to see how poorly the great talents have been wasted. @karanjohar @DharmaMovies were u guys on weed while making this film. After hours of careful pontification, I have found one thing that I can applaud about #Kalank: Both the male leads left their chest hair on. Everything else about this film is a cringeworthy mess. pic.twitter.com/093AQOYdnV

“Karan Johar is a true friend. He made ‘Kalank’ so everyone would forget about ‘Zero’.”
