The Accidental Prime Minister: Critics call Anupam Kher-Akshaye Khanna starrer a propaganda film

New Delhi: Anupam Kher and Akshaye Khanna starrer ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’, which has been embroiled in controversy, has hit the silver screens on Friday (January 11). The Vijay Ratnakar Gutte has remained in limelight ever since the trailer was unveiled by the makers. Considering the flick has been released few months before the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ has received flak for being a propaganda film. While Anupam Kher is playing the role of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, Akshaye Khanna is essaying Sanjaya Baru, Singh’s former media advisor.

Although, ‘The Accidental Prime Minister’ has received thumbs up from the users on Twitter, movie critics have given it scathing reviews, calling it a propaganda film.

Film critic Ajay Brahmatmaj gave the controversial flick two stars out of five’. He called the film weak in terms of cinema.

The Indian Express’ film critic Shubhra Gupta, in her review, called ‘The Accidental Prime Minister, an out-an-out propaganda film, saying it was made to portray Singh in poor light. Gupta didn’t rate the film out of five stars.

Another film critic Rahul Desai gave the movie half star, saying it is too bad to be called a propaganda film.
