Since the release of the film, many AIADMK ministers and party cadres have expressed their displeasure over certain scenes in ‘Sarkar’ which have reportedly shown the Tamil Nadu government in bad light. A scene from the film degrades the government scheme in which grinders and mixers are provided free of cost. Also, Varalaxmi Sarathkumar’s character’s name in the film is Komalavalli, which the protesters allege is a reference to the late CM J Jayalalithaa.
