Vijay Sethupathi deeply saddened by mentor N Muthuswamy’s passing away

The Founder of Koothu-p-Pattarai, N Muthuswamy passed away due to prolonged illness in Chennai at the age of 83.

N Muthusamy is considered as a godfather in the field of Tamil Theater and his production titled ‘Kaalam Kaalamaaga’ (1969) is hailed as an all-time classic in Tamil stage play.

He was also asserted with various awards that include Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (1999). For his contribution to the theatre, he was honoured with the Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2012.

He has also mentored some of the leading actors in Kollywood that includes Vijay Sethupathi, Pasupathi and Vemal amongst others.

Actor Vijay Sethupathi shared a condolence message on his Twitter.

The ‘Vikram Vedha’ star in his tweet said, “With deep sorrow, I share this news, the father of Koothu Pattarai and our mentor Muthuswamy Ayya passed away today.”
