BENGALURU: The Karnataka High Court on Tuesday directed the Karnataka Government to initiate steps and measures for peaceful screening of movie ‘Kaala’, starring Rajinikanth, from June 7.

The court issued this direction after the Additional Advocate General AG Shivanna made a categorical statement before the court that there is no decision to impose a ban on the movie yet and that the state is ready to provide security to exhibitors if they provide their details along with the place of movie screenings/theatres/multiplexes and timings.

Justice G Narendar issued this direction after hearing the petition filed by Chennai based production house, actor Dhanush and Aishwarya, son-in-law and daughter of Rajinikanth.

They moved court as some pro-Kannada organisations and Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce submitted a representations to Chief Minister HD Kumaraswamy seeking ban of movie over Rajnikanth’s views about Cauvery verdict by Supreme Court.

Meanwhile, the counsel of Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce submitted that they had not instructed the protestors or the exhibitors not to exhibit the movie.
