While the 1970s saw both Kamal Haasan and Rajinikanth deliver hits together in films like Avargal (1977), Ninaithale Inikkum (1979) among many others, at one point, they started making films separately.
When their films clashed at the box office and raked in the moolah, they decided not to act together. Although professional rivals, they’ve maintained respect for each other.
Addressing the media on Tuesday, Ulaganayagan shared his views on many things including jallikattu, he said he would work with Rajinikanth if a filmmaker could pay them equally. “Working with him is not new.
We have acted before. But how many people can afford us? If we are paid our respective remunerations, where’s the money to make the film a viable project?”
Earlier, he had said both of them have a ‘secret pact’ that whenever they did a film together, it would be produced by either of them. “It’s the only way to ensure we do not displease our fans,” he added.
