Actor Vishal’s office raided day after he slammed BJP’s H Raja for watching pirated version of Mersal

Vishal released a statement denouncing H Raja’s ‘support’ of piracy and asks him whether he has any shame in admitting publicly of his support for piracy.

Tamil Nadu Producers Council president and actor Vishal’s office was raided today by the GST Intelligence Agency (GSTIA), according to news reports.

Just yesterday, the actor had slammed BJP leader H Raja for watching a pirated version of the newly released Vijay starrer, ‘Mersal’.

The raids were conducted at 2 pm today at the premises of the Vishal Film Factory in Vadapalani, Chennai, reports The News Minute.

According to a report in the Tamil news daily Dinamalar, the GSTIA are investigating all the financial documents of the production house.

The GST officials told Outlook India that the raids were being carried based on intelligence. The officials were quoted as saying the raids  were conducted “to check his past excise records as he is a film producer and distributor.”

The report also mentioned that the GST Intelligence Agency officials recalled that they had also examined the office of Lyca productions, the makers of Rajinikanth’s latest film 2.0.

The GSTIA was formed with the aim to prevent evasion of the Goods and Services Tax.

It was earlier reported in the media that the raid was conducted by Income Tax officials but later, the Income Tax department denied the allegations.

Vishal had on Sunday released a statement denouncing H Raja’s ‘support’ of piracy and asks him whether he has any shame in admitting publicly of his support for piracy.
