AR Rahman had tweeted sometime ago that he wanted lyrics to recreate his iconic track Urvasi Urvasi. As a result, what has emerged is a new song with reference to the US President Donald Trump and demonetisation. Soon after the video was released online, fans went gaga over it.
So far, the song has garnered more than 1.2 million views on Facebook. Taking the best lyrics from Twitter responses, he has surprised music lovers with lyrics like Ainooru ruba sella pona, take it easy policy, Donald Trump president aana, take it easy policy.
The new version features Rahman with Suresh Peters, who sang the original with him, besides composer Ranjit Barot. “The most beautiful thing about art is that it belongs to everyone and crowd sourcing is a great way to get newer audiences to connect,” said Rahman in a statement.
“It was a fabulous experience and what we’ve got is some interesting stuff filled with references to current events which is just as vibrant as the original one,” he added. The song was initially composed for Prabhu Deva, Nagma-starrer Kadhalan (1994). Vairamuthu had written the lyrics.
