Recently, the Chairman of RPG Enterprises shared a video clip on the microblogging site about a ‘digital mala’ and the internet was amazed.

Harsh Vardhan Goenka shared a video of a tally counter gadget. It has a set of jaap mala (rosary) in it which when turned will automatically be shown on the digital screen of the gadget. Instead of counting it by yourself and remembering it, the gadget makes it easier for you now. The caption read, “Mala Bhi Digital- Waah India (Mala is also digital- Wow India).”

The comment section had various opinions regarding the digital mala. A user commented, “It is quite an old product.”

A jaap mala, Jaap maala or simply a mala, which means garland is a loop of prayer beads which is commonly used in religions like Hinduism, Buddhism, Christianism, Jainism and Sikhism as well for counting the ‘japas’ or recitations, mantras, prayers or other sacred phrases.
