Instagram has become an integral part of our lives. Many of us are addicted to it and the mad rush to upload photos and videos after any event is seen everywhere. Instagram is the fourth most popular social media app in the world today. This social media app, started by Kevin Systrom and Mike Krieger in 2010, is now headed by Adam Mosseri. Even though very few people are familiar with him, everyone should be aware of his inspirational story. In 2008, Adam Mosseri began his career at Facebook. However, he had previously worked in different countries worldwide, including India.

Adam Mosseri studied Media and Information Design at New York University’s Gallatin School of Individualised Study, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in the field in 2005. While studying, he decided not to depend on his parents for pocket money and worked as a waiter cum bartender at a pub. When Mosseri was studying at New York University, he started web designing to pay the rent of his flat and named his firm Blank Mosseri where he used to design graphics, interaction and exhibits.

When the company became successful, it opened a second office in San Francisco. After this, Mosseri created a music-sharing app. Although this app was not a success, it brought him under the notice of social media giant Facebook.

In 2008, Mosseri became a Facebook employee. He was tasked with overseeing the news feed. Facebook experienced great shame during the fake news era in 2016. Due to this, Mosseri was relocated to Instagram which had just been procured by Facebook.

Nonetheless, Mosseri was appointed Vice President of Instagram by Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who continued to believe him. Following Systrom and Krieger’s decision to leave Facebook in 2018, Mosseri was appointed the head of Instagram. In 2020, Adam Mosseri was listed in the Tech category of Fortune’s ’40 Under 40′ list.
