UP Government Allocates Rs 7,000 Crore For Expressway-Linked Industrial Corridors

More than 30 sites have been pinpointed along the five expressways.

An estimated budget of Rs 7,000 crore has been allocated for the development of these corridors.

Uttar Pradesh, under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, has embarked on an ambitious plan to foster industrial development by introducing strategic corridors along five new expressways. The Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) has detailed plans to establish industrial hubs along key expressways, namely the Agra-Lucknow Expressway, Purvanchal Expressway, Gorakhpur Link Expressway, Bundelkhand Expressway, and Ganga Expressway.

During a recent high-level meeting, UPEIDA unveiled the comprehensive plan, allocating an estimated budget of Rs 7,000 crore for the development of these industrial corridors. The initiative covers more than 30 sites along the five expressways, encompassing a vast area exceeding 5,800 hectares.

The Ganga Expressway, connecting 12 districts, is set to have 11 strategically selected sites for industrial corridor development, covering an expansive total area of 1,522 hectares with an estimated budget of Rs 2,300 crore. Similarly, the Bundelkhand Expressway, linking seven districts, is planned for six identified sites, sprawling across an area of 1,884 hectares, with an estimated expenditure of around Rs 1,500 crore.

The Agra-Lucknow Expressway, connecting 10 districts, will witness five designated sites for industrial corridor development, spanning a total area of 532 hectares, with an estimated investment of approximately Rs 650 crore. The Purvanchal Expressway, threading through nine districts, is slated to have five designated sites covering an area of 1,586 hectares, with an estimated budget touching around Rs 2,300 crore. The Gorakhpur Link Expressway, connecting four districts, has two identified sites for industrial corridor development, spanning a total area of 345 hectares, with a financial outlay of Rs 320 crore.

The move aligns with the UP government’s strategic focus on industrialization and economic growth. Industrial centres are already being established along the Yamuna Expressway, featuring projects like Noida International Airport, Film City, Toy Park, and Logistic Park.

This strategic initiative under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s leadership is poised to transform Uttar Pradesh into a thriving industrial hub, fostering economic progress and creating employment opportunities. The allocation of substantial funds underscores the government’s commitment to infrastructure development, attracting investments, and enhancing the state’s economic landscape.
