Earthquake of 5.5 magnitude hits Tripura; jolts felt across Assam

An earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 on the Richter Scale hit Tripura, near the India-Bangaladesh border.

While the epicentre was near Ambassa, about 60 km from Agartala, tremors were felt in Bangaladesh, Myanmar and Bhutan.

Tremors were also spread across Assam and the Northeastern region, said reports.

So far, no instances of injury or damage have been reported.
