Bajaj Auto total sales down 22% in December

The sales of Bajaj Auto vehicles declined in the month of December, both, in the domestic market and its export destinations, data made public by the manufacturer showed.

In the domestic market, the company sold 11% less motorcycles in the month, while its commercial vehicles’ sales fell 44%. The total sales in the domestic market was down 17%.

As for exports, motorcycles shipped in the month fell 24% while shipments of commercial vehicles dropped 49% in the month.

Overall, total sales of motorcycles were down 18% while that of commercial vehicles were down by 46%.

Total domestic sales fell 17% while total exports (motorcycles + commercial vehicles) fell 27% and total sales fell 22%.

In the nine months ending December 2016, the company’s domestic sales grew 11%, exports fell 23% and total sales fell 5%.

In the first trading session of 2017, Bajaj Auto’s shares were trading at Rs 2604.90, down Rs 28.95 or 1.10% lower apiece.
