Tin, nickel drop on lower demand

Tin and nickel prices dropped at the non-ferrous metal market here today on stockists’ selling amidst lower demand from alloy industries.

Copper sheet cuttings and zinc softened owing to poor offtake from consuming industries while select copper and lead gained due to good demand from industrial users.

Tin prices dipped by Rs 80 per kg to Rs 1,460 from Monday’s close at Rs 1,540 and nickel also weakened by Rs 20 per kg to Rs 740 as against Rs 760 yesterday.

Copper sheet cuttings and zinc inched down by a Re per kg each to Rs 360 and Rs 235.

However, copper scrap heavy and lead edged up by Rs 3 per kg to Rs 378 and Rs 145 as compared Rs 375 and 142 yesterday.

Copper cable scrap, copper utensils and copper wire bar inched up by a Re per kg each to Rs 388, Rs 337 and Rs 416 respectively.
