At the stock markets, after a strong opening, the Sensex at the Bombay Stock Exchange swung between losses and gains, and had advanced 21 points, to 32,411 a short while ago.
The Nifty at the National Stock Exchange had added 8 points, to 10,154.
Other key regional bourses in Japan, China, South Korea and Singapore had all gained ground.
And at the forex market, the rupee had appreciated 2 paise, to 65.02 against the dollar in afternoon deals.
